We are regularly asked if we can offer advice on 'ethical' home insurance and travel insurance. We have decided that this is not a market in which we have sufficient expertise to be able to offer the highest quality advice.
However, rather than just say "we don't do that, you'll have to go somewhere else", we have looked around the market place to identify insurers and policies that might be of interest to ethical investors. As a result of this research, we have so far identified two very interesting options that we feel will be of interest.

This company is an ethical insurance intermediary, rather than an actual insurance company. They offer buildings, contents and travel insurance via Lloyds of London. Ethical Investors Group has established a working relationship with NatureSave, because their ideals, business methods and commitment to ethical money are the same as our own.
Interestingly, 10% of the premium generated from the sale of insurance policies will go to benefit environmental and conservation organisations. This is achieved via the NatureSave Trust.

Founded in 1891, originally offering insurance for churches and the homes of churchgoers, the company has now expanded to provide an ethical insurance service to anyone that empathises with their "shared values" philosophy. The company is always looking to save their customers money on their home insurance, but in addition they strive to offer the best customer service and most comprehensive no-quibble policy conditions.
On top of this, the company is actually owned by a Charitable Trust so a proportion of the insurance company’s profits go directly into the Charitable Trust. The Trust works solely in the UK, directing money back into needed communities and projects. Whilst the company operates to a very broad 'Christian ethic' and would logically appeal to our Faith-based clients, the overall ethos is something that all ethical investors will empathise with.

We must stress that we are not offering advice in this area; we are simply using our experience to identify schemes that clients may want to pursue directly themselves.
