(un)Ethical Foreign Policy

UK welcomes Human Rights abuse with open arms

- and wallets

Campaign Against the Arms Trade have recently reported the shocking ethical position of the British Government when it comes to making money from arms sales.  Once again, it appears that the British Government is rolling over on its back for a lovely tummy tickle from Governments that are still involved in conflict or internal suppression.

What is the point of an ethical Foreign Policy if it is to be ignored when a country flashes a fiver and wants to go shopping for more arms?  Is the state of the public finances so bad that ethics will be buried for the next ten years until we get back on track?

Is such a position one to be proud of, and have the politicians once again given in to lobbying from big business?

What now?

Well we don\'t seem to make much else except weapons in this country nowadays.
So we had the last decade of a massive spending spree of thowing more money at the health service educationthe olympics 2012 and expanding the infrastructure of the country. No wounder that Scotsman at No 10 fell out with Tony Blair! The money was coming we all thought from the UK being a big world money making financial centre.
      Now that bubble has burst.
All we seem to have left is a high standared of living that we can\'t afford unless we seel arms. SAD I think!.
